Geneva just can’t seem to stop attracting the most renowned watch brands and groups. Caroline Krug would certainly concur, since the new head of Louis Vuitton Switzerland took up her responsibilities at the very time the brand is inaugurating the luxury giant’s first Global Store in Switzerland. This is Louis Vuitton’s most significant architectural achievement in Europe in 2006. As its name implies, the Global Store concept means that one can find all the brand offers there: watches, jewellery, leather goods, eyewear, off-the-peg fashion and shoes for men and women. With its three floors totalling 560m² and opening on to the Tour du Molard, the Geneva Global Store is one of the top three in Europe size-wise. 600 VIPs from around the world were invited by Louis Vuitton to attend the inauguration of its prestigious new address at 33, Rue du Rhône. Louis Vuitton CEO Yves Carcelle took advantage of the occasion to organise a gala evening at the store and at the Société Nautique de Genève, based around the theme of the Louis Vuitton Cup 2007, its skippers and Alinghi, Defender of the 32nd America’s Cup. The brand’s current exceptional good form worldwide is thus reflected on the Swiss market, for which this new development represents the 4th expansion of the “chequered” brand over the past two years, following the noteworthy opening of stores in Gstaad and Lugano in 2004, and that of the Flagship Store on the Bahnhofstrasse in Zurich in 2005. So we wish a warm welcome to Caroline Krug, who began her career in the Wines & Spirits division of the LVMH group, before holding various executive posts at Louis Vuitton over the past five years.
