I am interested in time because it has the ability to make me dream. I have everything except time – which renders it even more desirable. A closer look at time shows us just how magnificent and fundamental it actually is. Knowledge of physics and astrophysics even tends to show that nothing exists apart from time. Last year, a congress of astrophysicists even put forward the hypothesis that human beings are perhaps experiencing a 22-dimensional collective hallucination. The strings of time have been observed, since they distort our vision of the stars – which implies that time does indeed modify our perception of reality. It is therefore an extraordinary value imbued with poetry and romance.

In parallel, looking at a watch without understanding that it is one of the visible signs of time is just mental laziness. It was from this standpoint that I began to take an interest in watches: indeed, my first challenge was to democratise objects that tell the time. That led me ten years ago to offer watches synonymous with great cultural and design quality, at extremely reasonable prices. My research on bionism goes back even further and this pioneering exploration of objects of the future, in which the time factor is an element inscribed in our very bodies, is now reaching its culmination which is within technological reach. I really should devote some time to that.

Giving some time to the Only Watch operation was entirely natural. Not only is its instigator Luc Pettavino a wonderful man with a brilliant intellect and pleasant attitude, but his professional* environment also happens to correspond to my personal growing involvement in the world of yachting. The opportunity to join him in his fight against muscular dystrophy was an offer I could not refuse. Thanks to him, I was also able to cooperate with Richard Mille, who has shown me all the magic and poetry of working in the rarefied spheres of extreme Haute Horlogerie, where the quest for perfection verges on the sacred.
