The end of this first decade of the third millennium has been a time of great upheavals for our beautiful Swiss watchmaking mountains and valleys, whose inhabitants are bracing for potential after-shocks. A cog in the wheel of this watchmaking microcosm, GMT would naturally have preferred to celebrate its 10th anniversary beneath fairer skies. Nonetheless, the first rays of sun, radiating from the Far East, appear to be breaking through the storm clouds. May they durably warm up the manufacturers, whether perched in the Jura or bordering the lakes. Privileged observers such as GMT perceive an astonishing and fast-blooming wealth of mechanical biodiversity. While the solidly rooted major brands await the expected recovery in order to flourish more strongly than ever in a less crowded field, young shoots with their multi-coloured buds are sprouting up all over the place.
This spring edition contains fifty new models, two of which are examined in more detail on the Testing bench by our in-house watchmaker, and three are transposed into a related universe by our partner architects.
