The L.U.C Quattro is of course not a new model. It has indeed been the flagship model of the collection bearing the initials of Louis-Ulysse Chopard, and its L.U.C 98.01-L caliber is one of the most successful movements produced by Chopard Manufacture. Nonetheless, the new face the brand has given it this year expresses a personality all its own. While its signature features are definitely there in the shape of the small seconds subdial and the fan-shaped power-reserve display at 12 o’clock, they have been simplified and fine-tuned, as has the minute track. Roman numerals have given way to blue Arabic numerals at 3 and 9 o’clock only, complemented by Dauphine-type hour-markers matching the shape of the hands, and in the same shade of blue. The paring-down of the new silver-toned dial does not reflect the impressive characteristics of its caliber, whose four stacked and series-coupled barrels – a world first when first launched – give the timepiece its name and endow it with a 216-hour power reserve. The Poinçon de Genève quality hallmark together with COSC chronometer certification add significant prestige to this L.U.C Quattro whose understated contemporary design is enhanced by a new woven-effect blue leather strap.
