BREGUET – Elegance by the sea

A pillar in the history of marine chronometers, Breguet has always been known for its Marine collection, which is now expanding by adding three new ladies’ models, all inspired by the high seas. For a Maison renowned for its expertise in guillochage (Abraham-Louis Breguet was, after all, the very first to include such techniques involving hand-engraving on a rose engine in his clocks and timepieces) it’s only natural for the pattern to show up on one of these new Marine Dame models in the shape of waves. This technique took several months to develop and called for the creation of special cams for the engine-turning lathes. Featured prominently on the 18K rose gold model, a flow of waves is etched on the white mother-of-pearl dial – an especially difficult material to handle with due to its fragility – catching the light in a distinctive manner. Paired with a white leather strap and matching rose gold buckle, the case is set with 50 diamonds along with six diamonds on the crown guards. Further adding to its luminosity, the tips of the hands, five-minute markings and hour-markers glow in the dark. Inspired by voyages on tempestuous seas, Breguet’s Marine Dame 9518 was conceived for the adventuress in all of us.
