Part of the latest collection from Danish Urban Jürgensen, Reference 1140 PT L is subtly different from the brand’s traditional designs. Radiating a glacial beauty accentuated by the contrast between raw power and mesmerizing gentleness, this Valkyrie-like model with its generous curves despite a modest size exudes an earthy, sensual charm. Everything about it is rounded, right the way to the gold hour-markers with a cursive font inspired by the organic trends of the 1930s. It is however on the solid silver that the attributes of this northern warrior are most vividly displayed. The delicately sandblasted opaline center evokes remote, frozen expanses, while the delicately rimmed chapter ring stands out like a shining coat of armor. At 6 o’clock, the small seconds with the basket-weave guilloché motif appears like a Viking shield. Finally, this Wagnerian vision is complemented by blued steel hands as sharp as daggers and shaped like a royal scepter. Issuing a powerful aesthetic statement echoing remarkable know-how and distinctive dreamy subtlety, this ice maiden is indeed regal to its very core.
