Automatically feminine

Launched in 2016 with quartz movements, Maurice Lacroix’s Aikon watch adopted self-winding movements in 2018. This year, the 35mm-diameter ladies’ model is also shifting to automatic mode. While the fact might not be immediately obvious, this dainty Aikon is not just a smaller version of an existing model. The case retains all the brand’s signature sporting chic appeal, including taut lines and rider-tabs on the bezel, while displaying subtly feminized features. On a more instantly visible level, the new Aikon Automatic is distinguished by dials set with eight diamond hour-markers. The new model is available in four versions aimed at modern women who appreciate the prestige of mechanical horology : steel with a blue Clous de Paris dial ; steel with a black mother-of-pearl dial ; steel with a white mother-of-pearl dial ; and two-tone with a white mother-of-pearl dial. They were unveiled at last July’s Paris Fashion Week and in the presence of the brand’s new ambassador, the designer Adeline Ziliox.
