Fans of classicism are best advised to just turn the page and move on. The new BR 01 Radar from Bell & Ross overturns traditional time read-off conventions by offering a striking realistic analogue display inspired by that of air traffic control radars. Instead of conventional hands and hour-markers, the watch faces features a radar motif with graduated perpendicular lines and in their place are three concentric independent discs marked with three brightly coloured line segments resembling radar beams. By activating these beams, the user can read off the hours, minutes and seconds as the eye moves towards the dial centre. Despite its apparent simplicity, this watch reflecting the brand’s signature codes is highly sophisticated and called upon the expertise of the brand’s finest watchmakers.
