DeWitt : The exact science of mathematics

Academia Mathematical

Case : pink gold and black rubber, sapphire back, water resistance to 30m Diameter : 42.5mm Movement : mechanical self-winding (Caliber DW0101,48h power reserve) Functions : hours, minutes Dial : jumping numerals Strap : black alligator leather, triple folding clasp

The fourth DeWitt concept watch, Academia Mathemathical testifies to Jérôme de Witt’s passion for maths. It embodies a technical innovation that called for several months of R&D before culminating in this visual and mechanical feat. It mysteriously displays the hours and minutes by means of apparently randomly strewn figures. These are entirely independent jumping numerals that successively appear in the light, in an order based on complex calculations. This hand-free creation, developed and hand-assembled by the master watchmakers of the Manufacture, is housed in an Academia case with the brand’s signature Empire-style columns. On both technical and aesthetic levels, it poetically expresses DeWitt’s characteristically innovative approach to watchmaking.
