This year, independent watchmaker Eberhard & Co. is re-issuing a 1950s icon emerging from the depths of the sea : the Scafograf. Enriched over the years, this collection has been extremely popular among adventurers and sports enthusiasts right from the start, notably due to its shock resistance and to its water resistance guaranteed to depths of 100, 200, 300, 400, 750 or even 1,000 meters. A contemporary model imbued with vintage character, the 2016 version of the Scafograf picks up the signature attributes that contributed to the success of its forerunner : a sturdy steel case, a ceramic unidirectional rotating bezel and a date display at 3 o’clock – an unusual feature on diver’s watches. This timepiece is also equipped with a safety valve at 9 o’clock enabling helium to be automatically vented, thus ensuring maximum reliability. While exuding a resolutely sporting character, the understated dial and pure lines of the Scafograf 300 make this timepiece a must-have diver’s model that is equally at ease underwater as it is on dry land, for casually elegant daily wear. The jury of the GPHG 2016 has indeed included this watch in its selection for the Sports category, a fine token of recognition !
