Transatlantic timing

With the limited-edition Luminor Regatta Transat Classique, Officine Panerai is celebrating the 2019 edition of the daunting classic sailing race for which it is serving as principal partner for the third time : the Panerai Transat Classique. This January, participants will set off from Lanzarote in the Canary Islands for the island of Saint Kitts in the Lesser Antilles. The commemorative watch is a flyback chronograph intended for passionate sea-lovers and chiefly distinguished by a regatta countdown function. Extremely simple to use thanks to innovative technology incorporated into the movement, it serves to count off – by means of an orange hand controlled by a pusher at 4 o’clock – the minutes and seconds preceding a race start. This deliberately maritime instrument is also fitted with a tachymeter scale expressed in nautical knots to calculate the speed of a boat, along with water resistance to 100 meters notably ensured by the brand’s characteristic crown guard. The caseback is engraved with a map of the Atlantic Ocean depicting the 3,000 nautical-mile course as well as the race logo.
