MECCANICHE VELOCI – At the wheel of a fine speed machine

Founded in Milan in 2006, then acquired and relocated to Geneva by its CEO Cesare Cerrito, Meccaniche Veloci is not the only watch brand to claim Italian origins and design combined with a 100% Swiss watchmaking, nor to be inspired by the automotive world. But Meccaniche Veloci goes beyond a commitment to a given car make, to the extent of placing the raw heart of the automobile – the engine – at the heart of everything. The powerful case of all its watches is piston-shaped and the term QuattroValvole refers to the valves of a cylinder. In this QuattroValvole Nardi Limited Edition model sits another functional car element that Meccaniche Veloci places in prime position : the steering wheel, in collaboration with Nardi. The famous Italian company still makes its steering wheels by hand and uses high-quality wood and leather, crafted and finished in the finest traditional manner. Precious wood appears in the lateral insert of the watch case, Nardi’s sky blue color on the contours of the four dials and on the seams of the strap, while the Nardi steering-wheel motif graces the guilloché dial pattern. Devoting passion to ensuring the beauty of functional objects, making timepieces with a strong design by means of classical high-end watchmaking : such is the vocation of Meccaniche Veloci. It’s all there in small letters on the dial, as a closer look reveals : “Italian design”, “Swiss Made”.
