Masala Library by Jiggs Kalra in Mumbai

Jiggs Kalra is considered The Czar of Indian Cuisine. Jiggs Kalra and his son Zorawar Kalra opened “Masala Library” in Mumbai two years ago. Masala Library by Jiggs Kalra is one of the famous fine-dining restaurants located in the commercial hub of Central Mumbai within the Bandra Kurla Complex. This restaurant showcases the epicurean ancestry of Ancient India, demonstrating culinary excellence from across the geographical landscape of India including some dishes inspired from the streets of India that retain their originality. The decor of this brightly lit restaurant has been kept simple intentionally so the spotlight remains on the innovative progressive Indian fare. Expect a trendy ‘progressive’ Indian cuisine.

The menu has dishes prepared in their traditional avatar, using original recipes presented in a contemporary style. It reflects  the diversity of traditional Indian fare, combined with modern presentation, vibrant colours and an appealing blend of flavours, the freshest of ingredients, cautiously balanced spices and contemporary culinary techniques. To cater to the modern food connoisseur the upmarket Indian fare is teamed up with clever cocktails presented an innovative way. Our suggestion is to opt for the Chef Tasting Menu, which offers a complete experience of this restaurant’s cuisine.

Among the most noteworthy signature dishes are the bacon-wrapped Tandoor Morels, featuring Kashmiri morel mushrooms, wrapped in bacon and stuffed with saffron-flavored homemade cheese and cream. They are served with a dry Chardonnay carbonara sauce and accompanied by lotus stem crisps. Another speciality worth trying is Kashmiri Chilli Duck, a twist on the traditional aloo bukhara korma dish, served in kashmiri red chilli and plum sauce.

This restaurant believes in deconstructing all-time favorites combining Indian ingredients and techniques with globally-inspired flavors so as to offer a holistic gourmet experience.
