Richard Mille : She loves RM

The ‘she’ in our title refers to Harvard graduate, Oscar winner and brand partner Natalie Portman, who has lent her own touch to the Tourbillon RM 19-01 Natalie Portman. For the American actress, “the spider symbolizes the human soul and freedom ; it is the mistress of fate and the weaver of reality”. In this particular instance, this arachnidean immortalized in diamond-studded white gold lives in a symbiotic relationship with the watch movement, in that its abdomen stiffens the titanium tourbillon bridges and its legs support the two winding barrels. The sapphire caseback of the gold case reveals a truly captivating sight: entirely machined from 18K white gold to form a spider’s web apparently floating in mid-air, the baseplate is polished by hand and black rhodium-plated, before being decorated and set with hundreds of black sapphires. This aesthetic gem-setting feat matches those achieved by the watchmakers and engineers working backstage of this 12th art (the art of time measurement) performance, in partnership with a worthy ambassadress of the 7th Art.
