TAG Heuer presents a new version of its legendary square automatic chronograph with a metallic blue dial. Strongly inspired by the watch worn by Steve McQueen in the film Le Mans, the Monaco Chronograph Calibre 11 is a direct reminder of the 1969 original : a 39mm case, a petroleum blue dial with two white counters, a vintage Heuer logo, a crown positioned at 9 o’clock. While bearing a definite resemblance to the “Steve McQueen” Monaco model, this new interpretation nonetheless stands out from its forerunner by the rectangular shape of its chronograph pushers and a 3 o’clock small seconds subdial. In terms of its mechanism, the 2015 version of the Monaco is powered by a Calibre 11 based on the Sellita SW300 and complemented by a Dubois-Dépraz chronograph module. A sapphire crystal and exhibition caseback revealing the movement’s inner workings sets the finishing touch to this new model. A word to Monaco enthusiasts : this model is not a limited edition.
