F.P. Journe & Oman : Prix Solo artgenève – F.P. Journe

François-Paul Journe, new partner to the January artgenève fair in Geneva, which is devoted to contemporary art, introduced a prize in recognition of the best monograph exhibition presented by one of 30 participating galleries. The Prix Solo artgenève-F.P.Journe allows F.P.Journe to purchase a work from the winning artist, in this case the Xippas gallery and a work by Lucas Samaras. This year, it will be given to the Fond Cantonal d’Art Contemporain. The jury consists of key players on the European art scene, such as Caroline Bourgeois (Curator of the François Pinault Collection), and Andrea Bellini (Director of the Geneva Centre d’Art Contemporain – Centre for Contemporary Art).

Oman and the 12th Art

On the occasion of the 44th anniversary of the Sultanate of Oman, celebrated in Geneva in November 2014, Swiss platform, Time-in-Tempo.org organized a “Swiss time in tribute to the Oman Art” in order to promote watchmaking’s decorative arts and contemporary Omani artists. Founder Natalia Signorini wished to use this opportunity to continue watchmaking activities from a past era by updating them with contemporary Omani creators, thus weaving cultural links through the use of time and its measurement. The unique pieces born of these interactions were launched at the end of 2015 at a cultural event held by Geneva and the Sultanate of Oman. As an example, the Ateliers Louis Moinet created a timepiece in tribute to the magnificent Royal Opera House in Muscat. Meanwhile, the Swiss public can discover various artists from the Oman Society for Fine Arts at one of the stopovers planned in Switzerland from spring 2015.
