40 years young and still in vogue… Non-conformist, spectacular and consistently ahead of its time, the Royal Oak has made an indelible imprint on the history of Audemars Piguet and on that of fine watchmaking in general. To celebrate this milestone for the luxury sports watch launched in 1972, the Manufacture in Le Brassus unveils the Openworked Extra-Thin Royal Oak, a timepiece combining a sporting temperament, modern design and sophisticated horological technique. This 40-piece anniverwary model meets combines the challenge of reconciling the constraints of a 3.05mm extra-thin movement with the stringent demands of openworking. The aesthetic of this new 950 platinum variation reflects the powerful identity codes that have enabled the Royal Oak to make such a lasting mark on collective consciousness. To delight of all fans of this watchmaking icon, the 39 mm diameter of this timepiece is indeed identical to that of the original 1972 Royal Oak.
