Well accustomed to the demands of sailors since it has been a title sponsor of the Panerai Classic Yachts Challenge, Officine Panerai has developed a new and especially user-friendly countdown timer function. Any press on the pusher at 4 o’clock moves the central orange hand one minute back on a scale of maximum 15. The desired countdown time is set and when the pusher at 10 o’clock is activated, the countdown is displayed in seconds (blue hand) and minutes (orange hand). After the given time has elapsed, the hands continue running as normal to record the duration of the regatta over a period of up to 12 hours thanks to the subdial at 3 o’clock. The pusher at 8 o’clock controls the chronograph zero-resetting as well as the flyback function when pressure is exercised while the hands are still in motion. The Luminor 1950 Regatta 3 Days Chrono Flyback Titanio also comprises a tachometric scale in nautical knots which serves to measure the speed of a boat over a given distance.
