At Piaget, legitimacy is not a meaningless concept. After an impressive demonstration of its expertise in the field of ultra-thin watchmaking in 2011, the company is pursuing its quest for essentials with a double world record, since the Altiplano Skeleton Ultra-Thin watch is not only the world’s slimmest watch at a mere 5.34 mm thick, but also houses the world’s thinnest automatic openworked or “skeleton” movement (2.40 mm). Three years of development were required to achieve this feat which admirably highlights the patient, infinitely meticulous work of the engraving artisans, as well as that of the watchmakers who have pushed the limits of extreme feasibility to reduce Piaget Calibre 1200S to its purest possible form. The result is an extraordinarily elegant white gold model testifying to the perfect interaction of its mechanical and aesthetic aspects.
