Cartier : Cartier Time Art

For the first time in its history, Cartier is presenting an historical collection of exclusively horological models, whereas until now Cartier exhibitions had been either also or exclusively dedicated to jewellery. Bernard Fornas, Chairman and CEO of Cartier International, was won over by the idea put forward by Cartier Switzerland’s CEO Arnaud Carrez : to create this watch and clock-specific exhibition debuting in Switzerland and destined to tour the world. Rather than the traditional city of Geneva, the location chosen was the Swiss economic capital. Moreover, the sheer artistic scale of this project called for an environment on a par with this retrospective featuring a range of surprising models. Internationally acknowledged as a benchmark in the area of applied arts, the Bellerive Museum on the shores of Lake Zurich has been transformed into an exclusive Cartier showcase (the permanent collection having been temporarily set aside throughout the entire exhibition), with famous Japanese designer Tokujin Yoshioka creating the perfect stage setting for these treasures. The “Cartier Time Art” première viewing held on August 31st was followed by a gala dinner hosting a number of prominent figures from the worlds of business and arts, including Charlotte Casiraghi and Tina Turner.
