Dubai : Comptoir102

The geographical location of this boutique restaurant, on Jumeirah Beach Road near the business district, is an integral part of its concept, which is both friendly and innovative. This is truly an exceptional address in Dubai, which is certainly not lacking in great restaurants offering all types of cuisine. Extremely welcoming and convivial, this culinary jewel can be savored both inside, with its somewhat European style, and outside, with its Middle Eastern décor, and is amongst those well-kept exclusive spots, far from the beaten track. Its two French creators designed it as their own living space, giving rise to the feeling upon arrival that one is entering their house. Totally integrated with the restaurant, a jewelry, décor and fashion boutique provides an opportunity to combine tasting pleasure with shopping in all price ranges, and for young and old alike – a facility that can be highly useful when arriving back from a trip or on the contrary, about to take a flight. Every Saturday morning, Comptoir102 (the street number) sets up an organic minimarket on its outside patio, accentuating the warm, vibrant impression exuded by the entire area. Organic cooking enthusiasts will be delighted as this is the house specialty. The fitness and health food menu is a given. Fruit and vegetable juices are exquisite as are the organic energy drinks. The menu changes every day and as a result is not posted to the website. Frequently consisting of fish, chicken and vegetables, dishes are prepared with care and great flavor, using original recipes. The results are delicious, starting with the not-to-be-missed quinoa salad. With its air of a trendy bistro and a distinctive seaside spirit, this human scale lounge restaurant attracts a multicultural clientele. This is representative of Dubai’s diversity that notably encompasses a number of European expatriates, such as those from the luxury industry established a stone’s throw away, and it is not unusual to run into watchmaking personalities such as Max Büsser. The only downside of it being located in a residential area is that the Comptoir102 is an alcohol-free restaurant so dishes cannot be tasted with a good glass of wine.
