Baselworld was an opportunity for Graff to shift up a gear in terms of watchmaking creations, as it unveiled eight new watches, of which three are equipped with a tourbillon. The most spectacular is undoubtedly the MasterGraff Skeleton Limited Edition, of which the tourbillon movement has been adjusted and cased up once the 164 diamonds composing the case and the lugs have all been put in place. With a case “weighing” 21 carats, any flaw in the subsequent adjustment represents a threat to the delicate “house of light” and the watchmaker must display absolute dexterity well ahead of that stage. This watchmaking and jewellery masterpiece symbolises the quintessence of the Graff spirit: the shape of its cases traditionally echoes that of a diamond, and in fact the case of this model is almost literally “cast” in diamonds, since its openworked sides are filled with exceptionally pure diamonds and sapphire crystal plates. All of which means it is no surprise to learn that this limited edition of five white gold and five rose gold watches comes with a six-figure price tag.
